DARK MATTER

by W^

Originally from Glasgow Will’s lust for music was solidified in the era of Trip Hop, House and Hardcore Techno where at the forefront of popular music and his influences of Bjork, Portishead, Apex Twin and Kylie where injecting his lust for music in all areas of his life whilst studying for a degree in Graphic Design.

Forever songwriting and dabbling in sounds Will’s dream of a career in music has always been prevent at the forefront of his thoughts, whilst carving a successful career out as a Graphic Designer.

It wasnt until meeting his best friend Steph Morris at a Buddhist meeting that these dreams started becoming a reality. The cosmic meeting of the two shared dreams for music set them on a music writing journey as L’orris Mairne, where they both learned their craft as song writers.

As all good things start they also must come to an end and the two, still remaining best friends decided to go on there separate musical journeys.

Moving to Leeds back in 2018 and then Manchester in 2022, both Cities have had a profound effect on his passion for music. Wherever Will goes he is attracted to the musical influenced cites of the UK it seems.

Since settling in Manchester for now, the time has arrived where DARK MATTER is born, both physical and metaphorical, the musical project in which Will explores his connection to the universe and time without beginning.

Triggered by his love of the universe and all things astronomical, he realised that his need for the exploration of connecting the human with the unseen profound universal energy was something he had to understand within his own life. What better way to explore this in the vibration of sound, where his love for music connects him to the unknown.

Battling with conflicting Dark and Light thoughts in various degrees, Will explores how he/we deal with dark doubts of depression and elevated states of enlightenment from one moment to the next, whilst trying to stay centred and live a so called normal life.

The first track ‘Lifeboat’ that has emerged from Dark Matter is his first look at those conflicting thoughts, and also pays homage to Steph who from there first encounter realised they are the same person and have met life time after lifetime.

The journey has just started and with Lifeboat being launched we will next look at Dark Matter within our minds, within the universe and our connection to both. A substance that even science doesn’t understand and nor do we with our own dark thoughts.
